A must read on the subject of black hat SEO is Ralph Tegtmeier’s, co-founder and CEO (together with Dr. Dirk Brockhausen) of fantomaster.com, latest post. His post is very insightful, and whether you find yourself agreeing to what he says or not, I bet you’ll find it to be an interesting read. His post, “Some Misconceptions Regarding Black Hat SEO”, for the most part explains why using black hat SEO is still viable. Note though that he when he says that black hat SEO strategies can work he is referring to the “non-dumb” practices. Below is the list of misconceptions Ralph Tegtmeier raised.

1. “Black Hat SEO Strategies Can Only Achieve Short Lived, Temporary Results” – He says that it is true that there are some black hat strategies that do yield this kind of results but there are also strategies out there that yield good lasting results.
2. “Black Hat SEO Isn’t Effective Anymore Because the Search Engines Have Grown Much Smarter Now” – He is right in saying that it id the dumb outdated black hat SEO that isn’t effective anymore, but not anymore as ineffective as dumb white hat SEO.
3. “Black Hat SEO Will Get You Banned by the Search Engines” – He says this true but only if you get caught.
4. “Black Hat SEO Is Poison to Your Corporate Image” – Again. He says that this is true only if word gets out.
5. “Black Hat SEO Is No Viable Business Model” – He says black hat SEO can still rake in big bucks.
6. “Black Hat SEO Can Only Fool Dumb Machines But Not Highly Trained Human Search Engine Staff” – He says that this is what his company is working on.
