Syndicating Your RSS for Faster Indexing

We've been talking about RSS feeds and what it can do for your website. We know that incorporating RSS feeds into your site results in more frequent visits from search engine spiders and thus leads to faster indexing. Have you realized however that by syndicating your RSS feeds successfully you can achieve the same results? How so? If you have subscribers when a search engine spider crawls your subscriber's site (assuming that your subscriber incorporated YOUR feed into his own website) the feeds will of course contain a link back to your website. Once the ... 0 Comments

SEO Contests – the Basics

We have read about SEO contests springing up every now and then, usually with big prizes like laptop computers, thousands of dollars, webhosting businesses, and the like. The basic premise is that the organizers would invent a search term or keyword that's non-existent in the search engine databases, such as "V7ndotcom elursrebmem," which actually stands for "v7n.com members rule" ("members rule" is reversed to read as "elursrebmem").
Google Trends results for "elursrebmem". Notice the lack of results prior to the contest in 2006. The SEO contest would then be a race to the top of the ... 0 Comments

Why Hyphenate Your Domain Name?

Why www.blog-news.com (hyphenated) and not www.blognews.com (non-hyphenated)? The current main search engine (Google) doesn't recognize the individual words from the above non-hyphenated domain names, so they would not help future optimization plans. The hyphenated domain http://www.blog-news.com is seen by Google as- www blog news com since Google treats . (dots) and - (hyphens) as a space. We say "google can parse those keywords out of the domain name". Note a domain with a single keyword (i.e www.keyword.tld) will have the single keyword recognized since Google sees the two dots (in the example above) as spaces. So when choosing a ... 0 Comments

Caffeine: The New Google Search

When Google unveiled its newer (better?) search engine everyone in the SEO world, or more accurately in the IT world, got all excited. Maybe it’s the caffeine in Google Caffeine or maybe its just simply because it was something from the big G. So what exactly is Google caffeine? Google caffeine is Google’s biggest and baddest change in search algorithm. The key to this change is that it is an actual change in the formula and not just minor tweaks. Parts of the entire search infrastructure was, according to Google, completely rewritten. The results? A search engine that will "push the ... 0 Comments

Town of Eu has SEO Problems

It speaks to the importance of the internet, specifically search, that it is not only businesses but even small towns that are very concerned about SEO. A town of 8,000 people in Normandy, France has decided to change its name because it doesn't place well in SERPs. (Believe me they don't. I've searched them in all major search engines and unless you add the word "town" to their name you won't find them in the first page.) The reason for the town's problem is not that their name is that their name is actually a highly competitive term - Eu. ... 0 Comments

Which Keywords – Long OR Short?

In the previous post, I had a short introduction on short tail and long tail keywords. I differentiated the two kinds. Now the big question is this: which kind is better to use for your blog? I have to be honest with you – there is no clear cut answer to this question. It would be so easy to just pick one and justify my choice. However, the fact of the matter is that both kinds of keywords have their own advantages and disadvantages. Let’s look ... 0 Comments

Long Tail Or Short Tail Keywords?

The more seasoned “SEO enthusiasts” out there would know what I am talking about. You see, there is more to keywords than you might actually think. In fact, the world of keywords can be divided into two main parts – long tail keywords and short tail keywords. More often than not, we are initially exposed to short tail keywords. That’s where it all began after all. However, there has been a strong movement promoting the use of long tail keywords over short tail keywords. ... 0 Comments

Keywords In Your Post Title

As promised, here is another post on how you can best use keywords to boost your SEO efforts for your blog. Let me ask you, how do you come up with post titles? Do you like coming up with a cryptic and catchy title? Or do you think about other things? Uniquely interesting titles are good. When they are outrageous and cryptic, they do tend to get more clicks as human readers would wonder what the post might be about. However, if you focus solely on this consideration, your post might not even make it to ... 0 Comments
