By putting up a regular post your visitors will be encourage to come back regularly since they have something new to read. Just make sure your blog has RSS to make it easier for readers to know when you have new posts.

The secret though to a successful SEO using blogs is to make sure that your posts contain stuff that visitors will really read, comment on, and hopefully link back to. Real links from varied websites is, as SEO people know, a sure way to up your page rank.

For websites that are still not indexed by Google and other search engines then a blog has an added benefit since you can submit that blog in blog directories. Being listed in directories as you know gives you a better chance to be indexed since search engines crawl them regularly.

You should also make sure that the blog engine that you’re using is configured to automatically ping “ping services” because blog search engines rely on these ping services to know which blogs are recently updated.
