Metrics for Success Part 2

As promised in my last post here are the some of the important elements you (or rather the website tracker and analytics program you’re using) need to keep track regarding visits and visitors of your website.

1. Actions – You should keep track of what your visitors actually do (or click on) when they visit your site. For example do they submit forms, sign up for subscriptions, click on add to cart buttons, actually complete transactions, click on ads, etc. This will give you an overall idea of what your visitors are actually interested in and which elements of your site attracts visitors.

2. Search Engine Referrals – Find out which search engines send you the most visitors and what keywords the visitors used as search string. This will help improve your keyword campaign and help you focus on your niche market.

3. Referring URLs and Domains – This will help you find out the most valuable source of your links (aside from search engines of course) so that you get an even better idea of your market.
