SEO for Google Mobile

Google Mobile

With the advent of Google Mobile no longer should you be concerned about being listed first in Goggle’s online SERPs but in Google Mobile SERPs as well.

Note though that if you want your website to be suitable for viewing on mobile gadgets (phones and PDAs) and want to be indexed by Google mobile you need your website to be either of the three mobile formats: XHTML, WML or iMode. Hence if you have an ordinary web page in HTML format you would need to rewrite your webpage using any of the three formats. Once your website is written using a mobile format Google will automatically convert your web pages so that mobile phones will be able to render your web page properly.

Another important thing to remember is that your mobile visitors will be able to search for your website only in Google’s Mobile Web Search and/or Image Search depending on the format you use. If you want your webpage to appear in Google Mobiles SERPs for both the web search and image search then you’d better use the XHTML and iMode format. If you don’t mind being listed in the web search SERPs only then you may use the WML format.

Once you’ve made your website mobile compatible then you can submit your website to Google Mobile and become a partner. To get indexed and crawled on a regular basis though so that Google will be informed of the changes or updates in your mobile website Google suggests that you sign up in Google Sitemaps and submitting your mobile sitemap.
